At low carpentry level, cutting wood and dismantling furniture are good ways to level without wasting nails. Also good to barricade windows as needed. Later you should build cut all the wood you need for walls first then build wall frames. Hopefully you will hit a high enough level be build T2 walls after all the cutting and frames.I have nails and planks in my inventory, a hammer equipped, yet PZ absolutely refuses to show an option to barricade anything for some reason.
