Ford zf5 transmission
ZF 5-speed in a 79. I have 79 F150 4X4 long box that I would like to fit with a 460/ZF combo. I have the 460 and I have a line on the ZF/transfer case combo. What I need to know is if a crossmember exists for the transmission or if someone has come up with a way of fabricating one. The transmission has a mechanical spedometer hook-up. That transmission will bolt right up to that engine. The long story is that there are some other things that will need to be changed, so having access to a parts truck makes it a lot easier. When I put the ZF5 into my '85, I originally tried to use the tunnel cover from an '81 Bronco, which already had a manual transmission. The ZF5 hit the cover and wouldn't let it sit flat.
