Elaboration strategies refer to the many ways of connecting prior knowledge to what someone has newly learned. What follows are four examples of elaboration strategies that have the potential to make new material more memorable and meaningful. Importance of Prior Knowledge We all know that new learning requires a foundation of prior knowledge.Teachers can apply this strategy by having brief class discussions where these kinds of questions are explored and asking students to work elaboration into their own study plans.. 4.
